I have been photographing the Reid family since before they were the Reids. They were literally one of my first clients, when I first bought my camera and I didn’t have enough experience to even feel like I could charge anyone yet. They were just two friends who were in love, no marriage yet. It has been a blessing to see them grow as a couple over the years.
This time, Janal wanted a clean modern look for her images. “No parks!” and “Nothing Green!” She reminded me of this repeatedly during the planning process. All for the best, because her images were not only modern and clean…but also, some of my best yet. We were blessed with the most beautiful 70 degree day in Dallas, just a week after Christmas :).
We selected the Dallas Arts District because they have a ton of modern clean walls to choose from.
We took family portraits, but we also took time for mommy son moments and brother shots as well. Capturing interactions is an important part of the process for me. I believe that is what makes images special and memorable.
I also love capturing connection in other way. The symbolism of hands has been important to my photography since the beginning. I love this image because you can see the strength of his protectors, Dad and big brother. You can also see the difference in the maturity of the two men, without even seeing their faces.
And then there were two. I believe a short couples session should always be included in a family session. You cannot forget the connection between the two who birthed this family into being. Janal and Brian are awesome parents, friends, and business owners. I am honored to call them friends.
